For a very long time, India had two religions only – Bollywood and Cricket. However, the millennials have rejected this belief. The pandemic has drastically changed the consumption habit of people - Bollywood is slowly losing it’s tinselly glow to the tsunami of Korean and Spanish dramas available on the various Video on Demand platforms and India’s all-season favorite sports Cricket, is in danger of losing its decades-old reigning leadership, thanks to the new crop of sport stars from tier 2 and tier 3 cities and their tantalizing performance at the recent global sports events.
Sports academies for tennis, badminton, boxing etc have mushroomed all over the country in the last few months as the new dream of most parents in India is ‘to make their children the next big sports star’. Parents are scrambling to enrol their children in these academies but is the coaching and training enough to improve their performance? And more importantly, is it in the right direction?
